Bristol City Council 1988-1999; Chair Environmental Health 1989-90 introduced Bristol's first cross departmental 'Green Charter'; 1994-1998 Chair of Property Services, established and chaired Broadmead Board (to protect retail centre from out of town centre at Cribbs Causeway), vice chair of Bristol City for Performing Arts. 1998-99 Chair of Leisure reintroduced free entry to all Bristol museums and member of Bristol 2000 now @tBristol. June 1999 made Honoary Alderman of City of Bristol. Avon Wiltshire Mental Health NHS Trust: Board member 1999-2006 Vice Chair 2004-6.
